Golden calcite is made of yellow due to the presence of manganese, while the white colour comes from quartz and the grey bands come from iron oxide. It comes from stalactite or other limestone cave formations, which is why it has layers on its surface. Calcite is a common mineral that’s found all over the world. It’s closely related to marble and is formed by calcification, which causes it to change colour depending on the minerals present.
